Rochester, NY- April 7, 2011- Lumetrics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of world-class measurement technology, is on the move.
Lumetrics is expanding its operation with a move to a new facility at Eagle’s Landing, in Henrietta, on May 15. In its eighth year of operation, Lumetrics has seen significant growth and has outgrown its current space in the Lennox Tech Enterprise Center.
“At our current size and with the projected growth we see over the next two or three years, we need more space,” said President John Hart. “Our customers are requesting larger and more complex systems, and we need to accommodate the staging and testing that they require.” The new 10,000 square feet of space will allow expansion of manufacturing, research and development, and product engineering.
Lumetrics is fast becoming a leader in medical device measurement. The company saw a greater than 50 percent growth in revenue from 2009 to 2010, and the current year is projected to continue that growth. The OptiGauge-based measurement systems -- primarily sold to the medical and ophthalmic industries – are being used in six of the top 11 medical device manufacturers in the world, for measurement of balloons, catheters, and other medical products.
The company is also beginning to develop its own medical devices. Lumetrics, which has significant R&D resources involved in development of cutting-edge products, was recently granted a patent on technology for evaluating the internal structure of the human eye. “Part of our recent success is exemplified by our track record in obtaining Small Business Innovation Research grants and turning those grants into products,” Hart said.
