ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 14, 2010 — Lumetrics, a leading manufacturer of world-class precision thickness measurement technology, will showcase its continued development of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funded Fundus Camera at the Optical Society of America Frontiers in Optics 2010 tradeshow at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on October 24 to 28.
Lumetrics will be providing information on its new Fundus Camera that quickly captures detailed images of the retina of a human eye. The compact, hand-held camera is intended for general use by ophthalmologists, family physicians, and other practitioners alike on a routine basis for early detection of ophthalmic diseases. Today’s retinal photography is time consuming, expensive, and can be uncomfortable for patients. This camera will only require a few seconds of surface contact with the cornea. Its small physical size, wide optical field of view, low cost of ownership, and the ease of use will permit eye care professionals to offer retinal examinations on a rapid, routine, preventative basis without the need for long visits and costly specialized equipment.
Lumetrics received a Phase I research grant award from the SBIR program of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in April 2010 for development of the camera and is expecting to move into Phase II of the project in the next few months.
Lumetrics will also be discussing its OptiGauge technology and the system’s product specific accessories such as, the Automated X/Y Tissue Scanning System, the Tubing Monitor 360, and the Rotational Linear Scanning System. Lumetrics can perform sample measurements for companies interested in the OptiGauge as a solution for its thickness measurement needs.
